Digpak

This is my final digipak created for my band Empire colours. The colour scheme I used for my digipak was that of balck and blue, I belive this represents the band perfectly due to the fact that the blue displays the bands livelyness and the black shows the business side of the band. After looking at different digipaks i decided to go for a minimalistic effect due to the fact that i wanted the promotion to be of the band name rather than the design and the artistic features of the album. After recieving feedback from Mr Ford my media teacher he suggested that i had the name on the front cover rather than the blue pattern image that i created myself. He explined his suggestion in a way that he thought if I wanted  to make the name of the band the focal point of the album i should have it very much centralized in the middle of my front cover of my digipak.

After talking to my class mates but also people from outisde of college i asked them how in any way i could improve my Digipak to make it look more proffessional and slicker.

I had a large amount of people comment on the size of the blue pattern image on the inside left of my digipak, they belived it was too small and didnt have an influence or effect on the digipak at all.So after hearing this feedback from many of my friends but also some people i didnt know, i tried to take it on baord as much as possible. In reply to this i took action and made the blue image a lot larger, i then therefore showed the majority of people that had give me previous feedback the develoment of my digipak, but they still came back with some constructive critisizm, this was in the case of the background not being very black, some people thought it was more of a grey rather than a solid concrete black, the comment that was commoly being stated was it looks less sharp than it actually is. So after recieving these particlar comments I made the background more 'black' as i belived this would appeal to our young target market that we were trying to hit througout the promotion process.

After developing my digpak further I went back to Mr Ford and Mr Smith, they instructed me to put a serial code on the spine of the digipak but also again the album name. This was to make the digipak look more official and also proffesional.

Both also informed me that the font that I was currently using didnt fit in with my target audiecne due to the fact that it was too fancy, and they believed i should go for a more round and fun text font, to match my young lively target audience.

After achieving the design and artistic features, i believe i forgot to perfect the basics. For example the barcode on the back of the digipak was a lot larger tthan it needed to be and my teachers said it looked very unrealistic.
